About Scepters Garments.
It all started in 2021. I was looking for a nice leather bracelet, but the products offered to me didn’t check my boxes. At that time, I didn’t have much money to spend on a bracelet, so I decided to make one myself. In my mom’s sewing box, I found a sheet of leather. However, I needed a way to close the bracelet. Then I found a D-shackle that had come off a sailing boat. I put it together, and it looked exactly as I had imagined.
When I was looking for a name, I was inspired by boat parts and stumbled across the word scepter. Around this time, I would go sailing during vacations with my parents, which was an amazing experience. After I made the bracelet, I showed it to my teachers and classmates, and they all liked it a lot. My plan was to sell these bracelets, but that plan never became a reality. However, this was the start of Scepters.
Later, I went to Bonaire for an internship, where I was constantly surrounded by water and boats. Unfortunately, I also witnessed the pollution that had damaged the coral reef. During the six months I spent there, the spark for creating something came back. This time, I wanted to make it real. I began designing and developing a concept for Scepters Garments. After a lot of brainstorming, and one and a half years later, the concept was ready. It was time to take action.
I started creating clothing designs and refining my business plan. During this time, I also sold some clothing to raise brand awareness. And that is how Scepters was born.
My mission now is to create clothing using recycled boat materials. It’s not just for people who love sailing but for everyone who wants to wear something special and sustainable. One of my core goals is to make sustainable clothing appealing to the younger generation. The younger generation is heavily involved in the throwaway economy, but we need to make a change because we can do better. With my products, I want to contribute to the little hope there is left to save the planet.
